decorationsA typical Swedish Shrovetide/Easter twig bouquet with the feathers on................twigs, usually from birch, which is often taken into homes and be decorated for Easter, like a paschal equivalent of the Christmas tree. Easter decorations linked to Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, and the palm leaves strewn in front of him on the ground..................occurred in an old custom from the 1600s which meant that each condemned the novel, that is to say that Goodman whipped family members with the rod, either on Shrove Tuesday and Good Friday morning. It would be a symbolic reminder of Jesus' suffering..........Twigs used solely for decoration are in Stockholm and parts of Sweden occurred since the late 1800s. It could be fancy like Shrove rice but missing sometimes completely decorations. It was not until the 1930s that it became customary to decorate the twigs in the country. The decorations consisted of colored feather puffs, colored paper flowers and chicks of cotton. Easter decorations were often a little before Easter and were in the water so the leaves have time to knock out.
